Inspired by a Broadway musical
Starlight Express, Mayu’s first passion was dance that she took up at 3 years old, and she won a junior jazz dance competition in a group at 8. Her father’s job as photography items dealer brought her to modeling.
Growing up with exotic looks and unique family education in a conservative Japanese society, Mayu had difficulty fitting in school and communities and spent most of her youth searching for her identity. She worked different jobs, binged movies, and interacted with people with diverse backgrounds, through which she formed an interest in acting.
Mayu began her entertainment journey
in college, and learned Method and theatrical acting on the course of her career. Since 2006 Mayu has been blessed to take part in projects such as films, TV shows, commercials, theaters, Internet contents, events, and radio shows. She also experienced working at a tech firm and learned traditional Japanese dance to broaden her horizon as an actor.
Mayu lent her voice to over a hundred projects in Japanese and English. In 2019 she started remote voice-over/acting business, and she was selected as one of the top 50 voice over artists on 50Pros in 2023.
A supermodel-turned wasted
party animal, actress at her prime in a life-and-death situation, desperate mom whose son was kidnapped and went missing for 19 years, eccentric football maniac and brilliant business woman, ice-cold controlling investor, damaged prostitute in the 19th century - these are some of the characters Mayu has brought to life. She tends to portray somewhat out-of-the-box characters, leaders of many sorts, and those with dramatic fate or dark personality.
After living in Poland from 2021 to 2023, currently she’s based in Shizuoka, Japan.
